The Joy of the Urban Dictionary

The weird thing about working in a library is the way you take it home. I'm talking "in a good way" this time. The sort of thing where you'll be sitting there shooting the bull with a friend and a topic comes up...

...And all of a sudden you're scrabbling through your sparse collection of books or powering up the Firefox to try to find the answer to some booze-inspired trivia or question-off-the-cuff that you really probably don't need to look up. But there you go. Librarians.

Or, when you're sitting with an older, non-computer literate friend trying to explain a slang term, and you say "Oh, I found it on Urban Dictionary." (and here's where it gets a little creepy--the urge for bibliographic/internet instruction takes over!) "Let me show you that--really, it'll only take a minute!"
